All Sections have participated in the Faith Partnership Award. This Award involves learning about a different religion and comparing it to a Christian faith. This year we chose to learn about Sikhism and we compared it to the Methodist religion. In February we visited the Providence Methodist Church in Golcar. Reverend Pam Ward told us all about how the Methodist religion was started by a man called John Wesley.
We also learnt about the style of the church and the ceremonies held throughout the year. In March we visited the Gurdwara in Huddersfield. It was very different inside the Sikh Temple compared to the Methodist Church. We were told about the Sikh festivals customs, the five K’s and the Sikh’s holy book. At the end of the visit we were given drinks and biscuits. During our Section meetings we compared the two religions and wrote about what we had learnt.
